DTI reviews SSF Sugarcane Juicer to boost farmers’ livelihood in Cabangan

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a Shared Service Facility (SSF) visit to the Sto. Niño Kabisig Farmers Association in Cabangan, Zambales on January 23, 2026, to assess the status of its sugarcane processing operations and identify ways to further strengthen the group’s livelihood.

The visit was led by Provincial Director Enrique D. Tacbad, along with Negosyo Center Business Counselor John Paul Bagayo and Administrative Aide Divina Badar of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO).

During the evaluation, the association showcased the use of the SSF sugarcane juicer in producing value-added local products such as sugarcane vinegar, panutsa, cascaron, and patupat. Members also presented their current production capacity, discussed challenges they face, and shared potential business opportunities for expansion.

The activity served as a platform to determine additional assistance that DTI can extend, including product development, improved packaging, food safety compliance, and market linkage support.

Through the SSF program, what was once a farming challenge has been transformed into a sustainable livelihood opportunity for the community. The collaboration between DTI, the MAO, and local farmers highlights the government’s continuing support for rural enterprise development and the promotion of Cabangan’s agricultural products.
