In celebration of National Arts Month, the Andrea Domingo Foundation’s Museum of Philippine Arts and Culture (ADF-MOPAC) opens its doors to an evocative showcase of Filipino creativity through an exhibit featuring 21 winning artists from its first national painting competition held in partnership with the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP).
The exhibit will formally open on February 6 at 1 p.m. at MOPAC, located across St. Scholastica’s Academy in Barangay San Agustin, with ADF Chairwoman Andrea Domingo and AAP President Fidel Sarmiento leading the ceremony.
Anchored on this year’s National Arts Month theme, “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Galing,” the exhibit brings together works that reflect the realities and aspirations of contemporary Filipino society. According to Domingo, the winning pieces explore pressing social themes such as poverty, corruption, and environmental degradation — using art as a voice for truth and transformation.
Domingo shared that the museum and its collections stand as a lifelong legacy, built alongside her husband Rolando through five decades of collecting Philippine art and cultural pieces, with the goal of inspiring and educating future generations of Filipino youth.
The ADF-AAP exhibit features the competition’s top three winners, five merit awardees, and 13 honorable mentions. Complementing the collection are 12 curator-selected MOPAC works and eight pieces by AAP officials, creating a broader narrative of Filipino artistic excellence.
Admission to the exhibit is free to the public, while access to the full museum collection is subject to regular entrance fees.
Beyond the exhibit, MOPAC houses works by Presidential Medal of Merit awardees, members of the Mabini Art Movement, 13 Artist Award recipients, and National Artists. Its cultural section also features religious relics and historical artifacts that reflect the richness of Filipino heritage.
Through exhibits like this, MOPAC continues to serve as a living gallery — where history, culture, and contemporary Filipino expression meet on canvas and beyond.
