National Telecommunications Security Council (NTSC) convened its first regular meeting for 2026, bringing together major telecommunications stakeholders to strengthen the country’s telecom security and resilience programs.

The meeting, held in Taguig City, gathered industry leaders to align key initiatives focused on operational readiness, crisis response, and infrastructure protection.

NTSC Chair Ramie Rey of Converge ICT Solutions opened the session, highlighting the importance of teamwork and coordinated execution among working groups.

Representing PLDT were security leaders led by Wilfredo F. Gonio, alongside Lorenzo G. Elicanal Jr. and Lucky Macapilit. The group introduced enhanced planning approaches, including the Sprint Planning Concept, aimed at improving task monitoring and delivery efficiency.

Updates were also presented on emergency and crisis management programs, community partnerships to help curb telecom equipment theft and vandalism, and strengthened coordination and information sharing among telecom providers.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming 10th NTSC Fun Shoot scheduled in March.

The session, hosted at the headquarters of DITO Telecommunity, was attended by NTSC members including PLDT and Smart representatives Willie Antalan and Eduardo Agapito, as well as DITO officials Romeo M. Basco, Jaime Fernando Hidalgo, and Eugene Carlos. Also present was Joey Tan of Globe Telecom.
