The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has assured families affected by the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) System in parts of Bulacan and Pampanga that construction of relocation sites is being expedited to allow beneficiaries to transfer at the soonest possible time.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency is acting on the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to fast-track the development of relocation sites, including the provision of improved housing units and community recreational facilities for displaced households.

The relocation site, dubbed “El Nuevo De Municipio de Calumpit,” is designed to provide livable housing for families affected by the railway project.
“Malinaw ang prayoridad ng Pangulo at ng DOTr na dapat may maayos na lilipatan ang mga kababayan nating maaapektuhan ng mga proyektong pang-transportasyon. Sisiguraduhin nating walang maiiwang apektadong pamilya,” Dizon said.
The DOTr has partnered with the Calumpit local government for the project, which can accommodate 637 families from Calumpit and Malolos in Bulacan, as well as Apalit and Minalin in Pampanga.

The road embankment leading to the relocation site has been completed, while construction of housing units is scheduled to begin in April and targeted for completion by 2027. The Calumpit LGU will oversee the social preparation of families set to relocate.
The project will feature six four-story residential buildings and community facilities, including a basketball court, parks, and playgrounds.
In the northern section of the NSCR, three relocation sites are currently under development — two in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, and one in Cutud, Angeles City. A total of 4,515 informal settler families are set to be relocated in the north, while 12,210 families will be transferred in the southern segment of the railway line.
Assistant Secretary for Right of Way and Site Acquisition IC Calaguas said the DOTr-ROWSA office remains committed to resolving right-of-way concerns to ensure the timely completion of both the relocation sites and the NSCR project.
“Malaki ang suporta ng ating Pangulo at ni Secretary Dizon sa mga proyektong ito, kaya kumpiyansa kaming maaayos ang lahat ng right-of-way issues at mabibigyan ng maayos na relocation ang mga apektadong residente,” Calaguas said.
Calumpit Mayor Glorime Faustino, Asec. Calaguas, and other local officials recently conducted an inspection of the relocation site.
Other relocation projects are also being developed in partnership with the National Housing Authority, Social Housing Finance Corporation, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
