Clark International Airport stages Full-Scale Security Drill

Clark International Airport (CRK) successfully conducted its first full-scale security exercise in partnership with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, simulating an aircraft hijacking scenario to test and enhance emergency response protocols.

The comprehensive drill was carried out under strict control to ensure preparedness of all response teams in handling critical situations. The PNP AVSEGroup, along with its Special Operations Unit, demonstrated coordinated negotiation and tactical assault procedures, with a focus on preserving lives and upholding human rights.

Office of Transportation Security (OTS) Administrator Gilberto DC Cruz commended the strong coordination among airport authorities, law enforcement, and emergency responders. He also lauded participants for their realistic execution of roles, describing the tactical assault as among the most precise he has witnessed. He noted that the exercise forms part of broader preparations for the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN Summit and related events in Clark.

Meanwhile, Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD) President and CEO Noel Manankil emphasized that ensuring passenger safety remains a top priority. He expressed gratitude to all participating agencies, adding that such drills help strengthen capabilities, identify areas for improvement, and maintain readiness for any potential crisis.

The simulation involved close coordination among airport security personnel, local law enforcement, and emergency medical teams. Regular flight operations and terminal services continued without disruption, ensuring that passengers were not affected during the exercise.
