BOC–Port of Clark seizes Php 3.536M worth of shabu hidden in motor filter

BOC CLARK SEIZES PHP 3.536M WORTH OF SHABU

The Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark, in coordination with the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID), intercepted a shipment from Zambia containing suspected methamphetamine, or β€œshabu,” valued at an estimated Php 3,536,000.00. The parcel was addressed to Cavite.

Enhanced profiling and non-intrusive X-ray scanning flagged the shipment, and a K-9 inspection confirmed the presence of illegal drugs. A 100% physical examination revealed a motor vehicle filter containing five rectangular carbon paper containers, each holding sachets of a white crystalline substance. Initial Rigaku spectrometer testing and subsequent laboratory analysis confirmed the substance as methamphetamine hydrochloride, a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued by District Collector Jairus S. Reyes for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA 10863) in relation to RA 9165.

District Collector Reyes highlighted the importance of strengthening Customs personnel capabilities: β€œThis operation shows the value of investing in the knowledge and profiling skills of our examiners to detect suspicious parcels and stop illegal drugs from entering our communities.”

Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno added, β€œBeyond seizures, our mission is to protect the welfare of Filipinos by preventing the harm these illegal drugs bring to families and communities.”

The successful interception supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to intensify the fight against illegal drugs, safeguard borders, and protect the nation from illicit substances.
