More supply, higher farmgate prices for farmers

Farmers in Ramon, Isabela can now say goodbye to traditional sun-drying of rice, which often leads to spoilage and low prices. Modern drying, storage, and cold storage facilities are set to boost post-harvest handling and income.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally inspected the Ambatali Warehouse and Ramon Onion Cold Storage Facility, designed to strengthen the province’s post-harvest and cold chain system:

  • Ambatali Warehouse: 14,000 sacks storage, 3,625 sacks drying capacity per batch
  • Onion Cold Storage: 20,000 sacks capacity, extending shelf life from 1–2 months to 5–7 months, preventing spoilage of up to 7,000 sacks

These facilities are expected to raise the farmgate price of rice from ₱16 to ₱20 per kilo, ensure a steady food supply, and increase earnings for local farmers.
