Hann Foundation plants 1,000 Mangroves in Sasmuan

Demonstrating its continued commitment to environmental stewardship, the Hann Foundation led the fourth batch of volunteers for its mangrove planting initiative under the “Sasmuan BakaOne: A Mangrove Conservation and Preservation Project.”

The activity gathered 17 employee volunteers from the Hann Group of Companies, who planted 380 Sonneratia mangrove seedlings. This brings the total number of mangroves planted to 1,000 since the project began in January 2026 across coastal areas in Sasmuan.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with the local government of Sasmuan and the Federation of Sasmuan Fisherfolks Association, reinforcing a multi-sector effort to protect and rehabilitate vital coastal ecosystems.

Leading the volunteer team were Hann Foundation Manager Ronnel Golimlim and Foundation Admin Manager Mirasol Simon, whose hands-on participation highlighted the organization’s culture of service.

Sasmuan Municipal Tourism Officer and coastal wetland site manager Jason Salenga underscored the importance of collaboration among the private sector, local government, and fisherfolk communities in advancing environmental initiatives and strengthening climate resilience.

Meanwhile, fisherfolk federation president Reynaldo Basco expressed gratitude for the continued support, noting that mangrove planting plays a crucial role in protecting livelihoods, sustaining fisheries, and safeguarding coastal communities from natural hazards.

Beyond tree planting, the activity provided volunteers with an opportunity to directly support environmental conservation efforts and contribute to building a more resilient coastal community.

Hann Foundation is set to resume its mangrove planting activities in September, encouraging more volunteers and partners to join the advocacy for mangrove conservation in Sasmuan.
