₱20 rice program launched in San Fernando under KADIWA initiative

The KADIWA ng Pangulo “Rice for All” program officially launched its ‘Benteng Bigas Meron Na’ ₱20 -per-kilo rice initiative on April 30 at City of San Fernado, Pampanga.

Led by the City Government of San Fernando through the City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, the program aims to provide accessible and quality rice to consumers while easing the impact of rising food prices.

The initiative highlighted the strong collaboration between local and national government agencies in strengthening food security and supporting Filipino families amid ongoing price fluctuations.

Around 1,500 individuals benefited from the launch, with senior citizens comprising a significant portion of the recipients.

Local farmers also took part through the KADIWA Pop-Up Store, allowing them to sell their produce directly to consumers and strengthen farm-to-market linkages.

The event was attended by officials from the Department of Agriculture and partner agencies, including Food Terminal Inc., the National Food Authority, and regional agricultural offices, along with City Mayor Vilma Caluag and Vice Mayor Aurelio Brenz Gonzales.

Department of Agriculture Region III, led by Regional Executive Director Dr. Eduardo Lapuz Jr., expressed full support for the initiative, calling it a meaningful step in ensuring affordable and sufficient rice supply for Filipino households.

The KADIWA program will continue expanding to more communities and barangays in San Fernando to further widen access to affordable rice while supporting both consumers and local farmers.
