DFA personnel receive security training from veteran Diplomats

Personnel of the Department of Foreign Affairs gained valuable insights on safety and security as seasoned diplomats shared their field experiences during a recent lecture at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).

DFA Assistant Secretary for Civilian Security Elmer G. Cato, along with fellow diplomats, recounted their experiences serving in high-risk posts such as Iraq and Libya, offering practical lessons on navigating challenging environments.

The session formed part of the Security Management lecture for the Basic Foreign Service Employees Course, where participants were provided with guidance on maintaining personal safety both at the Home Office and during overseas assignments.

The initiative aims to better equip foreign service personnel with the knowledge and preparedness needed to handle potential security threats while representing the country abroad.
