Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo Lazatin Jr. led the distribution of five kilos of rice each to members of the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Associations (JODA) in Mabalacat City.
The rice distribution forms part of a wider initiative of Lazatin and his staff to visit all tricycle and jeepney terminals in Angeles City, Mabalacat City, and the municipality of Magalang.
A total of 17,074 members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) and 2,555 members of the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Associations (JODA) are set to receive sacks of rice under the program.
Cong Pogi recognized the vital role of the transport sector in the continued growth of the city, noting that tricycle and jeepney drivers serve as an important mode of transportation for workers and commuters.
The lawmaker also continued a tradition he started during his tenure as mayor of Angeles City, where he personally gives five kilos of rice to tricycle and jeepney drivers as a gesture of appreciation for their service to the community.
