The Bases Conversion and Development Authority is accelerating efforts to position Bataan as a hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing and sustainable mobility following a site visit and stakeholder engagement at the 200-hectare Morong Discovery Park.
BCDA Executive Vice President and COO Atty. Gisela Kalalo, together with Vice President for Strategic Projects Management Randy Viacrusis, led discussions with officials from the Provincial Government of Bataan, V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corporation, and VinFast Electric Vehicle Philippines Corporation to explore the possible establishment of an EV manufacturing facility within the park.
The initiative underscored Morong Discovery Park’s potential as a strategic site for green and future-ready industries, aligned with the government’s push for sustainable economic growth.
Following the visit, BCDA also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Provincial Government of Bataan and V-Green Global Charging Station Development Corporation for the development and operation of EV charging infrastructure across the province.
The partnership aims to establish a province-wide EV charging network, support EV fleet adoption, and promote environmentally sustainable transport solutions. Initial plans include the rollout of DC fast charging stations, identification of strategic locations, coordination with government agencies, and public awareness campaigns to encourage EV use.
Morong Discovery Park remains one of the primary sites being considered for EV manufacturing investments as BCDA continues transforming its properties into centers for innovation, sustainability, and economic activity.
Kalalo emphasized the role of collaboration in advancing cleaner mobility and sustainable development.
“Partnerships like this turn long-term plans into concrete action. More importantly, they bring cleaner mobility and better air quality closer to our communities,” she said.
The initiative supports the administration’s agenda of promoting green infrastructure, energy efficiency, and sustainable industrial development under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
