PRC maintains 24/7 medical, welfare support for Balibago collapse victims’ families

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to provide round-the-clock welfare and medical assistance as emergency operations persist at the collapsed structure site in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.

In its 9:00 a.m. update on May 29, the PRC reported that out of the 47 individuals involved in the incident, 27 workers have been successfully rescued, while 14 remain missing and six fatalities have been confirmed.

Following the directive of PRC Chairman and CEO Richard “Dick” Gordon, the organization has implemented a 24-hour shifting duty for all Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Welfare Desk personnel assigned at the site.

The PRC said its First Aid Stations and Welfare Desks remain fully operational to provide immediate medical assistance and Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) to distressed relatives of the victims and responders on the ground.

The organization added that while basic utilities in the area remain functional, local authorities are still assessing the extent of the structural damage.

Meanwhile, PRC chapter staff and volunteers from nearby regions remain on standby for possible deployment and operational support as retrieval and clearing operations continue.
