The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has formally turned over a set of newly completed facilities to the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC), marking another milestone in the modernization of the Poro Point Freeport Zone in La Union.

The turnover ceremony was led by Joshua M. Bingcang and held at the Poro Point Freeport Zone. Also in attendance was Mario Ortega, highlighting the continuing partnership between the provincial government and BCDA in advancing regional development.
The completed project includes the rehabilitation of the Control Tower and Customs Clearance Area, the construction of a new Administrative Building, repairs to the Fire Station, and the installation of security enhancements such as CCTV systems and cyclone fencing throughout the complex.
According to BCDA, the upgraded facilities are expected to improve operational efficiency, strengthen safety and security measures, and enhance services for locators, workers, and stakeholders within the freeport zone.
The development forms part of BCDA’s broader efforts to redevelop and modernize the Poro Point Freeport Zone as a key economic and investment hub in Northern Luzon.
The project also supports the national government’s Build Better More program, which aims to upgrade public infrastructure and economic zones to attract investments, generate economic opportunities, and improve public service delivery.
