Newly installed People’s Television (PTV) General Manager Lino Cayetano announced that the state-run broadcaster is set to forge partnerships with the country’s three major media networks — ABS-CBN, GMA, and MediaQuest’s TV5 — as part of efforts to strengthen PTV’s mandate and public service.
In a statement, Cayetano said the three media organizations had already expressed their willingness to collaborate with PTV.
“I am happy to share that ABS-CBN, GMA, and MediaQuest TV5 have reached out to help us at PTV,” he said.
According to Cayetano, the PTV Board has approved a resolution authorizing him to enter into partnerships with the three networks.
“The PTV Board, led by Chairperson Victoria C. Recio, Vice Chairperson Prof. Antonio Contreras, and Board Member Atty. Joji Alonso, adopted a Resolution authorizing me to enter into partnerships with these media organizations to further advance our mandate,” he said.
The PTV chief emphasized that collaboration among media stakeholders is essential in ensuring that the government television network remains relevant and responsive to the needs of Filipinos.
“To serve Filipinos better and remain engaged and relevant in their lives, we need multiple stakeholders at the table, working alongside the already outstanding and hardworking men and women of PTV,” Cayetano said.
He also expressed gratitude to the country’s leading broadcast networks for supporting PTV’s future initiatives.
“I thank the three largest media organizations—all held in high esteem and trust by the Filipino people—to be part of PTV’s future,” he added.
The announcement marks one of the first major initiatives under Cayetano’s leadership and signals a move toward broader cooperation between the government broadcaster and private media organizations to expand public service and audience engagement.
