Senate President Win Gatchalian expressed alarm over another incident of school violence following the stabbing of a Grade 9 student from Julio Ledesma National High School in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The senator noted that the incident came while the nation is still mourning the recent tragedy in Tacloban City, raising renewed concerns about the safety of students in schools.
Gatchalian said the continuing cases of violence in educational institutions have become a serious concern that requires immediate attention. He stressed that such incidents should not be allowed to become the norm.
In response, the senator announced plans to file a resolution seeking an investigation into the prevalence and severity of school-related violence. The proposed inquiry aims to identify effective measures and long-term solutions to strengthen the safety and protection of students in schools nationwide.
