The City Agriculture Office demonstrated that residents do not need large plots of land to grow their own food during the Gulayan sa Barangay program held in Barangay Agapito Del Rosario on September 3, 2026.
With the support of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, participants learned practical urban gardening techniques that can be applied at home, including:
- Hydroponics
- Basic seedling production and planting
- Organic fertilizer making
The participants were also shown how simple containers and recycled materials, such as plastic cups, can be used for planting.
The activity is part of the city’s Urban Agriculture Program, which encourages residents to grow their own food using pots, containers, backyards, and other suitable spaces at home.
The Gulayan sa Barangay program will continue in other barangays, with the following schedules:
🌱Salapungan — September 9
🌱 Sapalibutad — September 10
🌱 Amsic — September 16
🌱 Pampang — September 17
🌱 Mining — September 23
🌱 Pulung Cacutud — September 24
🌱 Cut-Cut — September 30
🌱 Sapangbato — October 1
The program will continue in other barangays as the city promotes urban agriculture, food sustainability, and practical gardening skills among Angeleño families.
Even with limited space, residents can start small — plant, nurture, and harvest for a more sustainable Angeles City.
