Museo Ning Angeles re-opens
The Museo ning Angeles will be reopening its doors to the public five years after it was closed for restoration with the latter two years after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.
Enhancements have been made to the galleries to ensure that the history of Angeles City is kept alive.
Visitors will again be able to discover and explore the rich history of the city, its culture, people, literature, arts and the culinarium featuring Kapampangan food and its preparation.
The restoration project started in October 2017 to preserve the Museo’s original structure, particular the ceiling, windows and flooring. The temporary closure was extended by another two years after COVID-19 affected the country resulting in lockdowns and restrictions.
The restoration effort was funded by donors of the Kuliat Foundation, Inc. (KFI), the organization preserving the history, culture and traditions of Angeles City through the development and promotion of historical, cultural, educational, environmental, social and economic plans, programs and projects for the Angeleños and the future generations.
The KFI received Php2.8 million in donations. The Local Government of Angeles City, meanwhile, allocated Php3 million for the project. The KFI improved the permanent galleries featuring the founders, people, historical events, faith, customs and traditions.
The galleries are part of the “Kasalesean (History) ning Angeles”. The ground floor shows the history of the city and the story of the founders through paintings while the second-floor features the “Culinarium” that not only showcases unique Kapampangan food but also the art of gracing tables using a collection of utensils used in the olden times.
The 1920s Museum shows the city’s history through dioramas of traditional life and famous art works of Angeleños.
The Museo ning Angeles can accommodate 70 pax and to ensure the public’s safety, health protocols are observed and the facility regularly sanitized.
In this modern day and digital age, revisiting the past will remind Angeleños and visitors how the ancestors lived and developed the city into what it is today.
Museum officials said that with the public’s support and interest and by caring for the museum, the city’s rich history and culture will remain alive for generations to come.
The Museo Ning Angeles will be open to public on April 1 following the ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 25 at 9:00 am.
