The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) recognized Tarlac’s sustained contribution to the country’s blood services after honoring 532 benefactors and supporters of the National Blood Services Program during its 10th Annual Awarding Ceremony on September 15 at the Tarlac City Plazuela Hall.

Over the past six years, Tarlac’s blood donation partners have contributed approximately ₱53 million to support PRC blood services, helping ensure the availability of life-saving blood for patients in need.

Tarlac also ranks No. 1 nationwide in the PRC Blood Samaritan Program, which provides assistance to indigent patients requiring blood transfusions. It ranks third within the PRC network in blood collection and blood service facilities.

PRC Chairman and CEO Richard Gordon said the organization remains committed to bringing blood to areas where it is needed, emphasizing the humanitarian nature of voluntary blood donation.

Gov. Christian Tell Yap highlighted the province’s long-standing partnership with the PRC, noting that the organization has been among the first groups Tarlac turns to when residents need assistance.

PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang likewise encouraged Tarlac to further expand its blood collection efforts so the province can extend assistance to neighboring cities and provinces facing similar needs.

The PRC operates a Blood Center in Tarlac City, complemented by blood service facilities in Concepcion and Paniqui.

Dubbed “Gawad Serbisyong MaYap: Dugong Buhay Awards,” the ceremony was organized by the Provincial Government of Tarlac to recognize blood donors and partners from municipalities and barangays, schools and academic institutions, private companies, socio-civic and religious organizations, and uniformed groups for their continued support of voluntary blood donation and life-saving blood services.
