The courts of the National Academy of Sports (NAS) in New Clark City came alive as 144 young athletes from nine surrounding barangays gathered for BCDA’s ‘Youth Rising’ program.
Players from Aranguren, Anupul, Banaba, Cutcut II, Maruglu, Lourdes, San Roque, San Nicolas and Sta. Lucia in Capas and Bamban took part in the tournament, showcasing their skills while building camaraderie, discipline and confidence through sports.
More than the final score, the event highlighted the potential of young athletes and the role of sports in creating meaningful opportunities for communities surrounding New Clark City.
BCDA Vice President for Public Affairs Leilani Barlongay-Macasaet said Youth Rising uses sports as a platform for youth development, helping nurture discipline, leadership and life skills among young people in the New Clark City community.
Joining the activity was BCDA Vice President for Investment Promotions and Marketing Erwin Kenneth R. Peralta, who supported the initiative and its broader community and civic impact.
Ensuring the athletes’ safety throughout the tournament was a dedicated medical team from the Camp O’Donnell Medical Treatment Facility, which remained on standby during the games.
With young athletes filling the courts, Youth Rising once again turned competition into an opportunity to develop skills, strengthen community ties and inspire the next generation to keep moving forward.
