The Pampanga provincial government is moving closer to launching its Mobile Pharmacy service after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) completed its inspection of the province’s second mobile pharmacy unit.

The inspection, conducted as part of the application for a License to Operate (LTO), included FDA North Luzon Cluster Director II Gomel Gabuna.

Designed as a fully equipped pharmacy on wheels, the mobile unit has the necessary facilities, medicines and personnel to bring pharmaceutical services closer to communities, particularly residents in far-flung barangays.

The newly inspected unit is assigned to the Escolastica Romero District Hospital in Lubao, while another unit is stationed at the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua.

The provincial government is completing the remaining LTO and other required approvals from the Department of Health (DOH) and FDA, as well as PhilHealth accreditation, before the mobile pharmacies begin full operations.

Once operational, the units are expected to bring needed medicines, including maintenance drugs that may be covered under PhilHealth YAKAP and GAMOT programs, closer to patients.

To access medicines, residents must first register with PhilHealth YAKAP through the eGovPH App or PhilHealth Member Portal, undergo consultation at a YAKAP Clinic, and secure a prescription from a YAKAP provider or authorized healthcare provider.

Residents are advised to wait for the official schedule of the Mobile Pharmacy in their district and bring a valid prescription, as medicines will only be dispensed based on prescriptions and applicable program rules.
