The Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has approved a ₱371.8-million 2027 Local DRRM Fund to strengthen the province’s disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery programs.
The fund was approved during the council’s 3rd Quarter Meeting on September 29 led by Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda on behalf of Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, at the Kingsborough International Convention Center.
🔹 DISASTER PREVENTION AND MITIGATION
- Animal Health and Management Program
- Installation of garbage interception floaters
- Debris hauling and water-cleaning services
🔹 DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
- Acquisition of land for evacuation centers
- Construction and improvement of DRRM facilities and flood-mitigation infrastructure
- Procurement of emergency response and rescue vehicles, heavy equipment, and generator sets
- Purchase of relief goods, food and non-food items, medical supplies, and first-aid kits
🔹 DISASTER RESPONSE AND EARLY RECOVERY
- Emergency and core shelter assistance
- Food/Cash-for-Work Program
- Financial, medical, and burial assistance
- Other immediate needs of disaster-affected families
🔹 DISASTER REHABILITATION AND RECOVERY
- Programs to restore and improve the livelihoods of disaster-affected communities
PDRRM Chief Janica Yambao said the programs were shaped by lessons from previous disasters, including the recent enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.
PDRRMC records showed that 408 barangays across 20 LGUs were flooded, affecting 375,093 families or 1,218,442 individuals. Agricultural damage reached an estimated ₱1.48 billion**, affecting around 40,167 farmers and fisherfolk.
The strengthened disaster fund is intended to further enhance Pampanga’s capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
