Cong Pogi calls for probe into alleged animal cruelty at Angeles school

Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has called for an investigation into an alleged animal cruelty incident involving a dog reportedly beaten inside the premises of Systems Plus College Foundation (SPCF).

In a statement issued October 5, Lazatin said his office received reports of social media posts showing an alleged SPCF college dean beating a dog inside the school premises.

Other social media posts later claimed that the dog, reportedly bleeding from the head, was placed inside an empty water drum in an alleged attempt to suffocate it.

Cong Pogi stressed that violence against animals has no place in a civilized society, noting that even stray animals that accidentally enter school premises should not be subjected to violence.

He called for patience and humane treatment of animals, emphasizing the responsibility of people to exercise reason and compassion when dealing with creatures that cannot think and respond at the same level as humans.

Cong Pogi also expressed concern over the allegation that the incident involved an educator, saying such a circumstance would be particularly troubling for a learning institution.

He called on the Angeles City government, Angeles City Police Office, and SPCF administration to investigate the reported incident and ensure that those found responsible face the appropriate penalties under existing laws.

“In our desire to achieve higher education and learning, may we never lose sight of morality and compassion,” the Congressmansaid.

The allegations remain subject to investigation by the appropriate authorities.
