Angeles City is rising on the global stage.
The city made one of its strongest leaps yet in the 2026 Oxford Economics Global Cities Index, climbing 100 places to No. 388 among 1,000 cities worldwide—up from No. 488 in 2025.
The achievement also propelled Angeles City to No. 2 among the nine Philippine cities included in the prestigious global index, moving ahead of its previous third-place ranking and trailing only Manila at No. 174.
Other Philippine cities in the 2026 index were Davao City at No. 470 and Cebu City at No. 474.
Angeles City posted an overall score of 47.0, reflecting its performance across five key dimensions measured by Oxford Economics: Economics, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment and Governance.
The 100-place surge serves as a strong global indicator of the city’s continuing development, competitiveness and growing potential as an important urban center in the Philippines.
More than a number, the ranking recognizes the broad foundations that enable a city to thrive—from economic activity and human capital to quality of life, environmental conditions and effective governance.
Led by Mayor Carmelo “Jon” B. Lazatin II, the Angeles City Government continues to pursue programs aimed at strengthening public and social services, supporting businesses and local industries, improving public facilities, developing people and skills, protecting the environment and making government services more accessible.
For the city government, the latest recognition is both an achievement to celebrate and a challenge to sustain the momentum.
The progress reflected in the global ranking is likewise a shared accomplishment of Angeleños. Entrepreneurs, workers, educators, students, professionals, community leaders, government employees and residents all contribute to the city’s continuing growth and transformation.
From No. 488 to No. 388 worldwide, Angeles City has taken a remarkable 100-place leap in just one year.
Its rise to No. 2 in the Philippines underscores the city’s growing presence in the global conversation on urban development and competitiveness.
The milestone is a reason for every Angeleño to celebrate—and an inspiration to keep moving forward toward stronger opportunities, better quality of life, sustainable development and responsive governance.
Congratulations, Angeles City. Congratulations, Angeleños!
