The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Clark, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (CRK-IATFAID), intercepted some 4,140 grams of suspected ketamine valued at approximately ₱20.7 million from an inbound shipment from Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The shipment, bound for Valenzuela City, was declared as a “Compact Ceramic Fan” and initially underwent regular customs clearance procedures.
It was later flagged after suspicious images were detected through the BOC’s X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP), prompting a full physical examination.
Authorities discovered seven transparent plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be ketamine, with a total weight of approximately 4,140 grams.
Initial screening using a spectrometer produced a “Special K” reading, indicating the possible presence of ketamine. Representative samples were subsequently turned over to PDEA for laboratory analysis and confirmatory testing.
The operation involved the coordinated efforts of the Enforcement and Security Service–Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (ESS-CAIDTF), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), and X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP).
BOC-Port of Clark District Collector Jairus S. Reyes commended Customs personnel and partner law enforcement agencies for their vigilance and coordination in intercepting the shipment.
Under the leadership of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, the BOC said it continues to strengthen its enforcement operations and border protection measures against the illegal entry of dangerous drugs into the country.
