The Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) and Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) have broken ground for the Bataan Abucay Doppler Weather Radar Station at the university’s Abucay Campus.
The facility will house an advanced S-band dual-polarization Doppler weather radar designed to monitor localized rainfall, severe thunderstorms, and tropical cyclones affecting Bataan and Western Luzon in near real time.
Once operational, the radar station is expected to improve weather forecasting and early warning capabilities, helping authorities and communities prepare more effectively for weather-related hazards.
