CSF-LGU awards townhomes to employees

After long years of combined planning and construction, the socialized housing projects of the City Government of San Fernando for its employees have come to fruition, as initial batches of houses were officially turned over to the beneficiaries.

The ceremony was held on March 29, 2022 at Townhomes San Fernando in one of city’s northernmost villages, Barangay Panipuan – with the attendance of officials from the government and partner agencies.

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, in his remarks, said that since his admission as the city’s local chief executive, housing projects for the employees have been his goal.

“Simula nang ako ay mailuklok, layunin na natin na mabigyan nang maayos at matibay na pabahay ang mga empleyado. Higit sa lahat ay masiguro ang seguridad nila dahil naniniwala tayo na ‘home is where we should feel secured and comfortable’,” he said.
Santiago also sent his deep gratitude to the City’s partners for the project – the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

Louie Clemente, City Local Housing and Settlement Division chief, said Townhomes San Fernando will have 937 housing units.

As of this writing, 500 units are fully furnished and owners may already install fixtures in them. The remaining over-400 units are still under construction.

Project contractor Baque Corporation said that each unit is 42-square meters in size. The units each have a living area, kitchen and dining area, bathroom, and open laundry area at the ground floor and two bedrooms at the second floor.

“Nakasisiguro tayo na dekalidad ang pagkakagawa ng mga bahay dahil dekalidad din ang mga ginamit nating materyales. Simula pa lang, mayroon na tayong engineers na nagbantay sa konstruksyon upang masiguro natin ang kalidad ng mga ito,” shared Dr. Ofelia Tan, Baque Corporation president.

Groundbreaking rites was also held for the SHFC Central Luzon office which will be constructed in front of the houses.

DHSUD added that among the plans is the conversion of the townhomes site into a “complete community” where beneficiaries and their families have access to basic government services. (CSFP City Information Office)
