Free anti-rabies vaxx in Angeles City

Putting a premium on the welfare of animals, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., through the City Veterinary Office, led by Dr. Christian Xyric Arcilla, began the free anti-rabies vaccination of dogs and cats on September 21 in Barangay Sapangbato.

The City Veterinary Office has prepared a month-long calendar of vaccinations in the city’s 33 barangays. Amid the pandemic, the city government also allotted P5 million for the free neutering and spaying of 1,000 pets, as well as free anti-rabies vaccines for 30,000 pets in the city.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, an animal lover herself, said that this initiative has been a program of the city government as soon as Mayor Lazatin took office, supervised by his Chief Adviser IC Calaguas.

According to Calaguas, the city government, through its various free programs, wants to promote responsible pet ownership among Angeleño households.

In observance of the safety and health protocols against COVID-19, the City Veterinary Office will visit the 33 barangays by schedule. Pet owners are required to wear face masks and face shields and observe social distancing. (Angeles City Information Office)
