Angeleño Café to open January 2022

The construction of the Angeleño Café is now complete, and is set to be operational by January 2022.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the city government has already asked the help of the National Library to provide books for the café.

Located at the ground floor of the Angeles City Library, Angeleño Café will serve locally-produced coffee, using the green arabica beans grown by Angeleño farmers.

Once opened to the public, safety health protocols will be implemented inside the café, Lazatin says.

According to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, the establishment of the café is also an initiative of Mayor Lazatin to assist Angeleño farmers sell their products more effectively, enabling them to provide for their families especially during this time of pandemic.

“Bukod sa matutulungan natin mga kababayan natin, mai-showcase din natin yung kapeng Angeleño, na kayang makipagsabayan sa mga international brands ng kape,” Manuel shared.

Manuel, who supervised the construction of the café with Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and City Engineer Donato Dizon, said this will be managed by the city government with assigned staff from Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office.

Although the city government already requested books from the National Library, it is now accepting donated books from the public.

Calaguas is urging her kababayans to donate books for the café, particularly those for reference. Donated books can be dropped off at the City Library.

“While they are appreciating a sip of Angeleño coffee, they can also enjoy reading a variety of books displayed in the café with precaution,” Calaguas said.
