The Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin urged Angeleños to established their own household garden and provided the residents free seeds.
The vegetable seeds available are upland kangkong, sitao, okra, pechay, mustasa, and lettuce.
Fruit bearing and forestry trees include duhat, langka, mabolo, kamansi, guyabano, cacao, kainito, santol, miracle fruit, manga, madre de agua, and mulberry tree.
Meanwhile, herbal plants are oregano and insulin plant.
There are also ornamental plants like camantigue, rose, white bromilla, bromilla, gumamela, imelda, sanchesa, cosmos, avallia white, yellow bell, fortune, papua, evergreen, duranta, lerio, white angel and tea plant.
At the height of the pandemic, Mayor Lazatin launched ‘Luntian sa Barangay Lingap Project’ for sustainable food security.
Various seeds were distributed to more than 150,000 households in the city alongside food packs during the series of distribution.
The project aims to encourage Angeleños to use their vacant lot and practice gardening at the comfort of their homes.
