To ensure the safety of students and teachers from dengue once face-to-face classes start this August, the Angeles City government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., commenced the fogging and misting in 16 public schools.
The remaining 37 public schools will also be scheduled for misting and fogging.
“Ang inisyatibong ito ay hindi lamang para makipag-cooperate ngayong Brigada Eskwela, ito po ay magsisilbing paraan natin upang siguraduhin na magiging ligtas ang ating mga anak at kaguruan laban sa dengue, kapag nagsimula na ang klase,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin further said that the Anti-Dengue Task Force, formed from the City Health Office Sanitation Division, is being deployed throughout the public schools via schedule to conduct the said anti-dengue operation programs.
The operation, which started last August 1, is being supervised by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel. Meanwhile, the schedule is being prepared by Angeles City Economic Development Investment Promotions Office Chief Irish Bonus-Llego.
Among the schools which already finished their fogging and misting were Angeles City Senior High School, San Ignacio Elementary School, Jose P. Dizon Elementary School, Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School, Northville 15 Integrated School, Abelardo G. Tinio Elementary School, Pineda Gutierrez Elementary School, Don Ambrocio Mendiola Integrated School, Mining Elementary School and Cutud Elementary School.
Epza Resettlement Elementary School, Epza Resettlement High School, Pulung Cacutud Elementary School, Sapalibutad Elementary School, Governor Rafael Rafael Lazatin Memorial Highschool Sapalibutad, and — were also visited for the dengue prevention operations.
Manuel explained that aside from the fogging and misting program of Mayor Lazatin, the city government is also conducting the 4S strategy — search and destroy, self protection measures, seek early consultation, say yes to fogging in case of outbreak — against dengue in public schools and the 33 barangays.
“Napakahalaga po ng fumigation. This is intended to prevent the occurrence of dengue, a mosquito-borne disease. Through fumigation, the city can contain the dengue-carrying mosquitoes and prevent them from further breeding,” Manuel emphasized. (Angeles City Information Office)
