The Department of Trade & Industry recognized the Angeles City Government, led by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on December 14, 2022 as the 5th Most Improved Highly Urbanized City (HUC) nationwide for its exemplary performance in the 2022 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
Mayor Lazatin received the said award at Orchid Gardens, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. He was accompanied by Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, Business Permit and Licensing Division Chief Evangeline Malonzo, and City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Nilda Quito.
CMCI is an annual ranking of local government units in the Philippines developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
It has four main pillars: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
Mayor Lazatin recently also received the Best in Social Mobilization award during the 8th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health (CLEXAH) for the efficient and effective mobilization of vaccines of the city government.
Angeles City was awarded with the Best in Social Mobilization for its blended vaccination scheme — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay, the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay and the Suyod Bakuna, Bakunahan sa Tahanan.
