Angeles City’s “Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku” cleanliness drive continues

The efforts for a clean and green Angeles City continue as local government officials announced the staging of the second “Gawad Parangal sa mga Pinakamalinis, Luntiang, Ligtas at Kaayaayang Pamayanan (Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku)”.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, through Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO) Irish Bonus-Llego, presided over the evaluators’ meeting on Thursday at the city-run Cafe Kapebaluan.

The panel of evaluators present during the meeting were City Engineer Donato Dizon; environmentalist and veteran broadcaster Cecil Yumul; Edna Marissa Simbre of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources—EMB Region III; Lorna Tablante of the Department of Agriculture Region III; Lodislao Puno III of the Department of the Interior and Local Government – Angeles City; Lisa Juco of the Office of the Civil Defense Region III; and, Malaya Tolentino of the Angeles City Traffic Development Office.

Now on its second year, the Pogi Ya Ing Barangay Ku is part of Lazatin’s sustainable programs for participatory governance, environmental management, peace and order and disaster risk reduction management.

The program was launched in 2022 where Barangay Cuayan bested other villages and was declared the winner of the inter-barangay contest. (City Information Office Angeles City)
