The School Press Adviser’s Movement, Inc. will resume its annual national media conference this coming November 8-10. After almost four years, the movement that advocates responsible campus journalism in the country will hold its 14th Campus Media Conference and the 1st ever International Media Research Conference at at Grand Astoria Hotel, 466 Mayor Jaldon St., Zamboanga, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines.
“There is always innovation in SPAM, Inc. but we are true with our commitment in advocating responsible campus journalism and giving pride to campus scribes and advisers,” said Melanie Briones, SPAM, Inc. Board of Trustees Chairperson .
With the theme: “Promoting Evidence-based Journalism in the Reel World of AI and Social Media Influencers,” SPAM, Inc. welcomes back the Education, Communication and Journalism professors and students, School Paper Advisers and Student Writers and Campus Journalists from Elementary to College and Media and Journalism enthusiasts, to participate and collaborate in various activities and competitions that will take place on November.
Keeping up with the trends and measures of journalistic excellence, SPAM will hold its Visual Journalism competition through short form news feature ‘Reels.’
This year, qualified and deserving students and publication advisers will again be awarded Medallions of Excellence in various fields of campus journalism. Aside from the traditional competition of students, there will again be contests for respective advisers in news writing and copywriting.
Furthermore the media advocacy organization will be having individual contests such as Backpack Journalism for college students, Opinion Writing, News Story writing.
For group contests, SPAM’s trademark, the Pambansang Pautakang Pampahayagan will again test the students’ knowledge and mastery in campus journalism.
Also, there will be competitions in Digital Magazine Publishing, I-DOCUmento, Profile Feature Story and Research Presentations. For Publications, the Online Newspaper and Magazine Issues from 2021 to 2023 will be judged and recognized as well.
