Bea Alonzo will play a “she-devil” lead role in the upcoming Filipino-Hollywood feature “Angel Warrior” by Inspire Studios.Principal photography will start in mid-2022 and the film is slated for U.S. and worldwide release in late 2022.
Based on an actual World War II story, “Angel Warrior” will be produced by Inspire Studios founder and CEO Francis Lara Ho with executive producer John Shepherd (“The Stoning of Soraya M.”) and boxing champion, politician, media personality and presidential hopeful Manny Pacquiao. The screenplay is written by Cyrus Nowrasteh (“The Stoning of Soraya M.)
Alonzo will portray Tala, a pre-war era Filipina whose near-death experience transforms her into an underground fighter aiding the poorly-equipped Filipino and American guerillas on the island of Panay that was part of the country’s resistance movement against the Japanese occupation during WWII.
The new project will be presented at an event in Los Angeles on October 2 as part of the Filipino-American History Month that celebrates Filipino culture and the history of the migration of the Filipino to the U.S.
Bea Alonzo, whose real name is Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom, was born to a British father and Filipina mother in 1987. She is a model and award-winning actress for dozens of box office hits and primetime soap opera titles under her belt.
Alonzo’s showbiz career began in 2002 in “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” but took off when she starred in “It Might Be You” in 2013.
She is popularly known as “Basha” in the film “A Second Chance” with John Lloyd Cruz in 2015 that became the highest-grossing film for that year. She also won the “Movie Best Actress of the Year” in the PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
She also bagged the Best Actress Award at the 34th Luna Awards for her role in “The Love Affair” also released in 2015.
She is also a recipient of the Asian Stars: Up Next prize from the International Film Festival & Awards Macao and Variety.
