Big fuel price hike set for Tuesday

Motorists will face another significant increase in fuel prices starting Tuesday.

In separate advisories on Monday, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, Seaoil, and Shell announced price hikes of PHP2.65 per liter for gasoline and PHP2.70 per liter for diesel. Kerosene prices will also rise by PHP2.60 per liter.

The price adjustments take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, with other oil companies expected to follow.

This will be the fourth consecutive week of price hikes since September 16, driven by rising global oil prices due to the ongoing Middle East crisis and the weakening Philippine peso.

According to the Department of Energy, diesel prices have increased by a net PHP4.05 per liter, gasoline by PHP6.40 per liter, while kerosene has seen a net decrease of PHP5.35 per liter so far this year.

Last week’s fuel prices in Metro Manila ranged from PHP49.10 to PHP84.87 per liter for gasoline, PHP46.40 to PHP69.95 for diesel, and PHP67.29 to PHP78.14 per liter for kerosene.
