After a series of planning, deliberation and consultation, the City College of San Fernando, Pampanga (CCSFP) is now accredited by the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA).
Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, President and Executive Director of ALCUCOA, personally handed the certificates to Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and CCSFP President Atty. Gloria Victoria Bañas during the Presentation and Conferment of Accreditation Certificate held on January 26, 2022.
CCSFP passed the “candidate status” for eight programs including Bachelor of Science (BS) in Administration, Major in Marketing Management; BS Education, Major in Mathematics; Bachelor of Elementary Education; BS Education, Major in English; BS Accounting Information System; BS Information Technology; BS Business Administration, Major in Financial Management; and, BS Education, Major in General Science.
Last September 24, 2021, Arcega conducted an initial visit and gave some recommendations to CCSFP before the accreditation process.
In November 2021, several accreditors from different institutions conducted a three-day accreditation process that included a plenary session, documents review and validation, virtual campus tour, classroom observations, stakeholders’ conference and exit conference.
After the systematic validation, CCSFP can now apply for and undergo the accreditation for Level 1.
During his speech, Arcega congratulated the CCSFP for its perseverance and dedication to provide better quality education to Fernandino students.
“Thank you CCSFP for believing that education can liberate the young from poverty [and ignorance]. CCSFP is not an accident. [It is] a vision. Since then, up to now, CCSFP happens to be one of the most highly-regarded local colleges in Region 3 and in the national level,” said Arcega.
CCSFP has become one of the few accredited institutions in Region 3 and among the first 20 now accredited in the entire country, he said.
Atty. Bañas expressed her gratitude to ALCUCOA and thanked the local government for its unwavering support.
“Ako ay natutuwa dahil ang City College at ang local government headed by our city mayor Edwin Santiago share the same goal and vision. Ito yung makakapagbigay talaga ng magandang edukasyon sa mga ASLAG ning Balen. This is just the first step, ang pagkakakuha namin ng certificate of accreditation is the initial step pa lamang and our goal is to get the Level 2 and of course, we can do this because we have the support of the mayor and the Sanggunian members,” said Bañas.
Upon passing the accreditation for levels 1 and 2, CCSFP shall be qualified to apply for and receive grants and scholarships for faculty, students and staff upon endorsement of ALCUCOA, and it will be qualified also to receive grants for research, extension, and other projects.
Bañas also serves as president of the Association of Local Colleges and Universities in Region 3 and one of the members of the national board of ALCUCOA.
Santiago also expressed his gratitude to the ALCUCOA and vowed to continue its mission to provide excellent education for the youth.
“Unang buwan pa lamang ng taong 2022, marami na po tayong natatanggap na magandang balita sa aspeto ng edukasyon, at kasama na po ito. Napakaraming benepisyo po ang maibibigay ng accreditation na ito, hindi lang po sa amin kung hindi pati na sa mga ibang kabataan na nais maging Aslag ning Balen. Once again, we thank you for not just visiting our city but for visiting us with a gift, with a purpose, with a very good news. Mabuhay po ang ALCUCOA,” Santiago said.
