Clark Aviation Complex as logistics hub

Frontier

By Rendy O. Isip

Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) Officer-in-Charge Darwin Cunanan believes that the Clark Civil Aviation Complex is a viable and competitive logistics hub in South East Asia.

Cunanan, who has been serving CIAC for more than 26 years, knows this very well as he contributed to the development of the Clark aviation sector which is now bustling with aviation-related businesses.

Cunanan also noted that three of the world’s largest aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service providers — Singapore Airlines Engineering (SIA Engineering) Philippines, Lufthansa Technik Phils. and Hong Kong’s Metrojet Engineering – are based in Clark while express freight giant FedEx is one of CIAC’s major locators at the aviation complex .

These businesses largely contributed to the development of the entire Clark Aviation Complex and generated employment for residents in the communities surrounding the Clark Freeport Zone.

Things are looking great for aviation in Clark as the new administration of President Bongbong Marcos is fully supportive of the development of the Clark Freeport, the aviation complex and, in particular, the Clark International Airport (CRK).

Cunanan also said CIAC is now refocusing its marketing strategy to attract more investments to further develop the logistics and service industry that will benefit not only the communities surrounding the Clark Freeport but the whole country as well.

We will see a lot of developments taking place at the Clark Aviation Complex in the years to come and probably another terminal for the Clark airport which will cater to more passengers from North and Central Luzon.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista is also very supportive of the development of Clark and being a former airline executive, he knows very well how to attract more flights at Clark airport.

Chaos is widespread at the Bayanihan Terminal as it is already too small to cater to the needs of the large volume of the commuting public. Even huge buses cannot utilize the area very well.

I hope Clark Development Corporation (CDC) authorities or even the local governments of Angeles City and Mabalacat put their acts together to organize the terminal for jeepneys, taxis and buses at the Bayanihan area right before the main gate of the Clark Freeport.

It’s about time to develop the Bayanihan Terminal to benefit the riding public and make transportation to and from Clark faster, efficient and convenient.

I hope someone in the agencies mentioned take notice of this chaos at the Bayanihan Terminal, especially in the morning.
