Converge ends 2022 at the top of Netflix’s Speed Index -The Voice Newsweekly

Leading fiber broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. once again topped video streaming giant Netflix’s ISP Speed Index in December 2022, demonstrating the best experience for Netflix users who may be binge watching Korean dramas or doing a family movie marathon.

According to the Netflix Speed Index in December 2022, Converge garnered a speed rate of 3.6 Mbps in December, with a full year average speed of 3.42 Mbps. This is a marked improvement from the preceding six months where Converge has consistently been logging 3.4 Mbps.

“We’re proud to be recognized by a leading streaming service as the ISP giving the best experience to its viewers. This is proof of the top notch technology that goes into our network to be able to deliver quality entertainment to Filipinos,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

The average speed rating of the Philippines (versus other countries) according to Netflix is at 3.6 Mbps. Converge has been ranked No. 1 by Netflix in its monthly speed index for the majority of 2022.

According to Netflix, the ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network. Faster Netflix performance generally means better picture quality, quicker start times, and fewer interruptions.

Converge is the first and only ISP in the country to upgrade its network backbone data transmission capacity to 800 Gbps. These refer to the amount of data that can be pushed through between and among data centers in the Converge network. The upgrade to the industry-leading standard makes possible high-speed data transfers that are needed for streaming, remote storage, and next-generation technologies.

Last November 2022, Converge once again doubled the speed of its base plan of 1500 from 100 to 200mbps. This is part of the company’s objective to provide internet connectivity in the Philippines that is world-class and similar to the first-world countries in Asia like Hong Kong and Singapore.

“We have continually increased the bandwidth allowance of our customers to improve their experience and allow them to do more things, such as video streaming on multiple screens. So everyone in the household can binge on their favorite Netflix series at the same time without any problems,” shared Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus C. Romero.
