Converge joins Macabebe mission to aid isolated coastal community

Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a leading provider of fiber broadband and technology services, partnered with the Pi Sigma Delta Sorority and the Inner Wheel Club of Taguig in a mission to deliver vital services to Barangay Consuelo in Macabebe, Pampanga. This coastal village, often cut off from the rest of the province during typhoons, is home to around 1,000 residents who rely on fishing and oyster gathering for their livelihood.

Reaching the remote barangay requires navigating a narrow, one-kilometer bamboo bridge or small for-hire boats. Despite these challenges, the Macabebe Mission successfully brought much-needed medical care, including free diabetes screenings and dental services like tooth extractions, to the community.

Converge supported the mission by distributing dental kits and grocery packs to 150 beneficiary families. Additionally, the company provided a seminar on protecting children from online sexual abuse and exploitation, highlighting the importance of digital safety for vulnerable communities. “We see it as our imperative to partner with organizations to address critical issues such as health and online safety,” said Converge Manager and Head of Community Relations Jennifer Ambanta-Realubit, who conducted the seminar.

Converge Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Jay-Anne Encarnado added, “We hope that these efforts contribute to creating more resilient communities as we leverage our strengths to empower underserved areas.”

In addition to Converge’s contributions, Unilab Foundation donated over-the-counter medicines, which were given for free during medical consultations. The Pi Sigma Delta Sorority, celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the Inner Wheel Club of Taguig provided the medical and dental services. The mission also included fun games and slippers for the children of Barangay Consuelo, creating a moment of joy amidst the outreach efforts.

Converge’s commitment to sustainability and community impact continues through these initiatives. Recently, the company partnered with Caritas Manila to support the Unang Yakap Community in Tondo, providing healthcare and nutritional assistance to pregnant and lactating mothers. Converge also facilitated social media training for beneficiaries, empowering them with skills to generate income through their prepaid broadband product, Surf2Sawa (S2S).

Through these efforts, Converge ICT Solutions demonstrates its dedication to uplifting underserved communities by addressing both immediate needs and long-term empowerment.
