The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Central Luzon is urging stronger family planning efforts amid the country’s growing population. From 109 million in 2022, the Philippine population has risen to an estimated 114 million. In Central Luzon alone, the population has reached 14.2 million, according to CPD Regional Director Lourdes Nacionales.
Despite a gradual decline in growth rate from 2.3% to just over 1%, Nacionales noted that the base population remains high, translating to over a million new Filipinos annually. She stressed the importance of empowering families with accurate information and access to reproductive health services to support responsible parenthood and sustainable development.
CPD continues to collaborate with local government units, agencies, and partners to address the impact of rapid population growth on basic services such as education, health, and employment.
