CSF celebrates National Heroes Day

The City of San Fernando Local Government Unit celebrated National Heroes’ Day today at the flag raising ceremony by showcasing Fernandino talents who presented stories of historic and modern Filipino heroes.

The CSFP dance ensemble danced to the tune of “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy,” a pop song describing the distinct and exceptional Filipino traits.

Two local talents who have been making waves in the music and film industry were also recognized by the CSF Local Government:

• Fernandina filmmaker and “Cinemalaya” 2022 Best Director Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan received recognition for her remarkable stint in this year’s edition of the Philippine independent film festival. Her film “Blue Room,” one of the festival entries under the full-length feature category, was also handed with four other awards.

• Global performing arts champion France Nikko Nasal was back at the Heroes Hall as he serenaded the crowd.

Meanwhile, 18 City employees from several offices who passed the June 2022 Career Service Examination were also recognized, along with City Local Government Operations Officer Mark Jason Veran, who passed the Commission’s Career Executive Service Written Exam.

In their respective messages, City Mayor Vilma Caluag and City Vice Mayor BJ Lagman underlined to employees the importance of being “role models” of heroism by performing public service with integrity and honesty.

City Councilors Ricky Hizon and Reggie David were also present during the event. (CSF CIO)
