The City Government of San Fernando is stepping up its drive on the rebirth of a robust business climate in the locality as it held a major conference with the business community for the first time ever last July 29, 2022 at Heroes Hall.
Participated by over a hundred San Fernando-based large and micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs), this assembly was aimed at helping the business sector “build back better” from the harsh effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Renowned author and advisor-coach Chinkee Tan served as the conference’s speaker – with his materials highlighting the factors that make businesses succeed and fail.
“Our main goal here is to encourage, inspire, and motivate our MSMEs specifically during these difficult times,” Tan said.
When asked to give pieces of advice to struggling entrepreneurs, Tan had this to say: “Ang kailangang gawin ng mga tao ay una, paliwanagan ang isip na ‘there’s hope.’ When there’s hope in the future, there’s power in the present. Pangalawa, nais kong ibahagi ang kahalagahan ng paggawa ng ‘practical solutions’ sa mga pagsubok sa pagnenegosyo,” he added.
With her extensive stint in both the corporate and public services, City Mayor Caluag in her keynote speech underlined the contribution of the business sector in nation building.
“We, at the city, understand the importance of a collaborative relationship between the government and the private sector, including MSMEs. Ang malawakang ugnayan sa ating mga negosyante ay ang katuwang natin sa isang progresibong Siyudad na walang napag-iiwanan,” Caluag shared.
She also extended her gratitude to Tan, citing “his insights will be of huge help too recover and strengthen the business scene in San Fernando.”
Meanwhile, director Leonila Baluyut, through the Department of Trade Industry Region 3’s personnel, likewise imparted the agency’s programs and policies fortifying businesses.
Also in attendance were City Vice Mayor BJ Lagman and some City Councilors.
This conference was organized by the City Investments Promotion Office headed by its Focal Person Richie Bondoc and Officer Engr. Remedios Agoncillo, respectively. (CSFP CIO)
