The City Government of San Fernando and Department of Public Works and Highways resumed their joint operation of removing obstructions along major highways and thoroughfares.
On June 1, 2022, the group removed a police station that was built along a major road in Barangay Sindalan. The 143-square meter, one-storey office along Mac Arthur Highway once served as one of the city’s community police assistance centers (Compac).
City Engineer Anele David said that the City Public Order and Safety Coordinating Office, following the directives from the interior and local government department, assisted in the clearing operation.
The demolition will open up an area for the pedestrian, especially since the Compac stood in the middle of two public schools: Sindalan Elementary School, and, Information and Communication Technology High School.
The police outpost had been transferred to a new building, housed with other peace and order-related agencies, in Northville two years ago.
More operations are set to be conducted in other identified areas. (CSFP City Information Office)
