The newly renovated Old Public Market now called City of San Fernando Market Plaza held a dry run on September 18, 2022.
City Mayor Vilma Caluag paid visit along with some City department heads and focal persons, representatives of the project’s construction partner firm to meet the vendors, and market personnel for the inspection of the clearing and clean-up operations of the market.
The opening also serves as the market’s “dry run” of its planned grand opening, as the City aims to look on the improvements to possibly made in some parts of the market.
Further, now that the market has been soft-launched, the City is closely monitoring the influx of the consuming and visiting public as it vowed to implement measures on health, safety, and peace and order.
CSF Market Plaza building area has 10,000 square meters while the inner plaza and mini park are measured at a combined 2,200 square meters started its construction in mid 2021 as a respond for the safety and security problems of the Old Public Market.
The City Market Operations Division said these spaces will be occupied by more than 600 stalls to be operated by several local entrepreneurs – with merchandise ranging from food products, fruits, vegetables, clothing, houseware, and accessories, among many other commodities.
The City Government has yet to release other details on the market’s grand opening.
