CSFP set Community-Based Tourism training-The Voice Newsweekly

To sustain community participation in tourism and preserve cultural heritage in the City of San Fernando, the City Tourism and Investment Promotion Office (CTIPO) through the funding of Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 3 organized a comprehensive Community-Based Tourism training to 35 cultural guides based in San Fernando.

The eight-day training started on March 21 and culminates on March 28, 2023.

The Community-Based Tourism training will feature five resource speakers, including City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan together with the pillars of the country’s tourism, heritage, and cultural sectors: Dr. Jay Aquino, Anthony Arbias, Billy Malacura, and Dr. Reynaldo Jorda.

The week-long venture are over 20 modules/lecture topics that focused on the history, current state, and outlook on the shape of community-based tourism, not only in San Fernando but also in the Philippines, in general.

Immersion of the participants in the actual community-based tourism operations has also been set by the organizers.

The participants in the training include travel agents, barangay officials, students, hospitality workers, church and heritage workers, and the general public. (CSFP City Information Office)
