DepEd recognizes education innovations in Central Luzon

Department of Education (DepEd) recognized education innovations in Central Luzon under its Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence.

It was part of this year’s Education Innovation Conference which carried the theme “Reinventing the Landscape of Basic Education to BRIDGE the Learners to Optimal Academic Proficiency Level” that is anchored on the Flagship Programs in the 2022-2028 Regional Education Development Plan. 

DepEd Regional Information Officer Michelle Lacson said the Search for Best Innovations in Education has three categories namely STRUCTURE which involves the ways on how school facilities are organized; CONTENT which refers to curriculum revisions such as contextualization,  localization, and indigenization; and PROCESS which are transactions that have to do with human interaction such as pedagogy, assessment, instructional supervision, provision of technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation.

“Project REPAIR” of Sindalan Elementary School in the City of San Fernando placed first in the STRUCTURE Elementary level category while “Project I-SMILE” of Angeles City National High School topped the STRUCTURE Secondary level category.

Moreover, Project Kuya AP & Kwento ni Lola EsPi” of San Fernando Elementary School ranked first in CONTENT Elementary level category and “Project Reading Hub” of Maypyap National High School in Cabanatuan City got the top honor in the CONTENT Secondary level category.

And lastly, PROCESS winners were “Project V-Talk” of Schools Division Office (SDO) of City of San Fernando for District/Cluster Level category, “Project Mayap” of SDO City of San Fernando and “Project ITAP Mentor” of SDO Angeles City for Division Office level, and the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Office for its Implementation Guidelines on the Processing of Public Assistance concerns in the Regional and Schools Division Offices.

“The entries underwent two phases of screening and selection that included entry write-up and video clip evaluation and interview with the proponents of the innovation which was conducted by an external board of judges,” Lacson explained.

Following the criteria that focused on team collaboration, novelty, and impact of the innovation, five finalists in each of the categories in the various levels of governance were awarded with plaques of recognition and cash awards.

Top finishers each received a P20,000 cash prize. (CLJD-PIA 3)
