DOTR, OSG PARTNER TO FAST-TRACK RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION FOR MAJOR RAIL PROJECTS

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has teamed up with the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to speed up the resolution of right-of-way (ROW) requirements for key railway projects, including the North–South Commuter Railway Project (NSCR) and the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).

This initiative follows the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to fast-track flagship infrastructure projects for the benefit of Filipino commuters.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the mass drafting of expropriation pleadings will significantly accelerate ROW and site acquisition for both rail systems.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa OSG sa pakikipagtulungan para mapabilis ang pagkuha ng right-of-way. Utos ng Pangulo na bilisan ang pagkumpleto ng mga proyektong ito, kaya gagawin ng DOTr ang lahat para masunod ang timeline at mapakinabangan agad ito ng mga pasahero,” Lopez said.

Led by DOTr Assistant Secretary for Right-of-Way and Site Acquisition IC Calaguas, the workshop focused on expediting the preparation of pleadings for 137 expropriation cases.

Asec. Calaguas said the total land acquisition involved amounts to ₱1.068 billion, covering:
40,488 sqm (north segment, NSCR)
25,194 sqm (south segment, NSCR)
3,177 sqm (MMSP)

The workshop concluded on November 27 in Clark, Pampanga.
