The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished the rehabilitation and improvement of the irrigation facility of the Porac-Gumain River Irrigation System (RIS) in Barangay Pulungmasle, Guagua, Pampanga.
The project was financed for P96.42 million under the 2022 General Appropriations Act. and implemented by Pampanga Second District Engineering Office.
DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino explained that rehabilitation of the side slopes of Porac-Gumain RIS aims to prevent water loss and improve canal capacity and discharge.
“It included repair of concrete slopes on both sides of the irrigation canal with a combined length of 1,002.20 lineal meters,” he added.
Reinforcing the concrete slope of the canal system will also prevent soil sloughing and possible flooding in barangay Pulungmasle’s nearby rice farms and public cemetery. (PIA 3)
