Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned over the recently completed evacuation center cum multipurpose covered court to the municipality of Maria Aurora in Aurora.
P7.68-million facility is located in barangay Villa.
“What the people of Aurora often remember when we mention barangay Villa is the tragedy that happened in 2004 after typhoons Unding, Violeta, Winnie and Yoyong hit this area,” DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal shared.
“We do not want this to happen again and we need to prepare for such situations, thus, we continue our goal to build an evacuation center in every town in our province,” he emphasized.
The multipurpose evacuation center is situated in a 1,200 square meter property and can accommodate up to 600 people.
It has a kitchen, reception area, two shower stalls with 12-seater toilet facilities and has two rooms that will serve as a clinic and secretary’s office. (PIA 3)
